A Junior High Head Football Coach instructs athletes in fundamental skills, rules, and strategy while promoting sportsmanship, safety and academic success. Key responsibilities include organizing daily practices, managing game-day coaching, supervising assistant coaches, and maintaining equipment. They act as a liaison with the high school program to ensure alignment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- InstructionTraining: Teach fundamental techniques, safety protocols, and game rules, focusing on skill development over winning.
- PracticeGame Management: Develop detailed practice plans, assign team positions, and determine in-game strategies.
- LeadershipSafety: Supervise student-athletes at all times, including locker rooms, practices, and games, while enforcing district safety guidelines.
- Program Alignment: Work under the direction of the High School Head Coach and Athletic Director to align with the overall program philosophy.
- Communication: Maintain open communication with parents, players, and staff regarding schedules, expectations, and safety.
- Academic Monitoring: Monitor the academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes.
- EquipmentFacilities: Maintain inventory of uniforms and equipment, ensuring safe usage of facilities.
- Previous football coaching experience, preferably at the middle or high school level.
- Valid coaching certification/authorization (state-dependent).
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Fundamentals: Emphasize proper techniques for safe play.
- Development: Foster a positive, fun, and encouraging environment.
- Character: Teach sportsmanship, discipline, and respect.
