An assistant strength and conditioning coach designs, implements, and supervises training programs to optimize athletic performance and reduce injury risks for student-athletes or teams. They collaborate directly with head coaches, sports medicine staff, and athletes.
Core Responsibilities
- Program Design & Implementation: Create and lead sport-specific strength, speed, agility, and conditioning sessions for both in-season and off-season phases.
- Instruction & Supervision: Teach proper biomechanical lifting techniques, supervise weight room activities, and safely spot athletes.
- Athlete Monitoring: Administer physical and performance testing, track athlete progress, and evaluate data to adjust training variables.
- Rehabilitation Collaboration: Work alongside athletic trainers and sports medicine staff to modify exercises and aid in the recovery of injured athletes.
- Facility Maintenance: Help oversee daily operations, cleanliness, and inventory maintenance of the strength and conditioning facilities.
- Compliance: Ensure all training and team operations comply.
