Job Overview: 
Albertus Magnus College, Department of Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics, invites applications for a full-time faculty member to deliver high-quality, student-centered learning experiences and education with a primary responsibility in Anatomy and Physiology instruction. The successful applicant will teach and coordinate the instruction of lecture and laboratory sections of two multi-section A&P courses, on ground and online. The courses serve students in our Biology, General Health Science and Nursing programs. 

In addition to coordinating and teaching the A&P courses, there will be an opportunity to teach other related courses.  The successful candidate will engage in teaching, course coordination, and department and college service and will work collaboratively with colleagues across the college.  Rank will be commensurate with education and experience. This is an in-person position, 10-month position.  Expected start date is August 2026.

Qualifications:

Education:
A Master’s degree in a relevant field, although a Ph.D., M.D., or D.P.T. is strongly preferred. The College will consider doctoral candidates who are in the final stages of completing their degrees.

Qualifications:

  • Evidence of experience in teaching Anatomy and Physiology lecture and laboratory in person, hybrid and online at the college level
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team

Essential Functions: 

  • Deliver 24 credits over Fall and Spring semesters didactic, laboratory and/or experiential instruction in the biology program, mainly in Anatomy and Physiology. 
  • Coordination and teaching of Anatomy and Physiology in-person and online lectures and labs
  • Service on college committees, attending faculty meetings, advising students, and active participation in program departmental and college events.
  • Demonstrate experience and/or willingness to learn and use state-of-the-art technology in the delivery of instruction and other office duties.
  • Provide students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of Albertus Magnus College, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines and evaluation criteria.
  • Provide engaging assignments that demonstrate the real-world applications of concepts covered.
  • Participate in service activities, including shared governance, and attend College’s activities such as convocation, graduation, and ceremonies.
  • Use the college’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students.
  • Advise and assist students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by phone or email, and through other college-approved mechanisms. 
  • Provide service including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and assessment.
  • Contribute to periodic reviews and revisions of departmental course offerings.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge in discipline and areas of expertise.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Cultural Skills: Candidates must have strong organizational skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively with partners in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment supporting Albertus Magnus College's mission as a student-centered, liberal arts institution. Commitment to undergraduate education and student success.

Technology Skills: Proficient in MS Office tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), e-mail, and the Internet. Ability to learn new applications quickly, including organization-wide information systems and department-specific software applications. Ability to teach by leveraging the learning management system and other technology tools.

Language Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively provide information and positively respond to questions from both external and internal customers both in person and by phone. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a number of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to work independently and as a group member in developing and executing project plans. Ability to work in the theoretical arena and apply logic as appropriate.

Work Schedule Requirements
This is an in-person position with some evening classes scheduled.
