DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Customer Service & Sales
- Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast and friendly service.
- Assist customers by making product suggestions.
- Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques (phone, intercom, one-on-one).
- Answer and respond to incoming calls; resolve customer complaints and report to Store Director as needed.
- Plan daily operations and monitor production processes for profitability.
- Trim, cut, wrap, tray, display, and water produce.
- Build produce displays; rotate and discard outdated or spoiled products.
- Ensure cleanliness of work area and department.
- Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
- May be responsible for operation and maintenance of Salad Bar and Fresh-Made (where applicable).
- Follow and maintain department standards for freshness and quality.
- Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall performance.
- Schedule employees to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
- Possess specific knowledge of duties performed by all department employees, including opening and closing procedures.
- Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees.
- Train employees on store policies, sales, and record-keeping procedures.
- Identify and train employees with high potential for advancement.
- Initiate personnel actions such as interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
- Prepare sales and inventory reports; conduct physical inventory every 4 weeks.
- Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness.
- Maintain inventory levels according to division directives; stock and rotate products.
- Maintain and organize produce cooler.
- Control shrink and costs.
- Ensure proper code dating for all products within the department.
- Comply with company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
- Maintain safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of work area and equipment.
- Comply with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
- Implement correct product preparation techniques.
- Operate related equipment: pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machine.
- Perform receiving duties: break down loads, verify orders using invoices, inspect quality, report shortages, stock and rotate products.
- Adhere to product temperature and storage guidelines; follow proper packaging techniques.
- Perform all job duties safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity.
