DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Customer Service
- Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast and friendly service.
- Assist customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation ideas.
- Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in-store intercom, and one-on-one interactions.
- Plan daily operations and monitor production processes following company procedures and profitability goals.
- Trim, cut, wrap, tray, and display meat; build meat and seafood displays; rotate and discard outdated or spoiled products.
- Ensure cleanliness of work area and department.
- Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
- Operate and maintain meat cooler, freezer, and butcher block as needed.
- Follow and maintain department standards and requirements for handling quick-sale items.
- Ensure trim specifications and cutting standards are followed.
- Maintain proper temperatures during all phases of meat preparation, display, and storage.
- Understand and follow opening and closing procedures.
- Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees.
- Train employees on store policies, sales, and record-keeping procedures.
- Communicate department goals and standards effectively.
- Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness; maintain levels per division directives.
- Stock and rotate product; maintain and organize meat cooler.
- Ensure proper code dating for all products.
- Implement correct product preparation techniques.
- Build displays and ensure proper signage, including accurate pricing and Country of Origin Labeling (COOL).
- Comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company policies, and code dating requirements.
- Use and operate related equipment such as pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, grinder, saw, saw blades, safety cutters, and cuber.
- Comply with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
- Prepare sales and inventory reports; assist with physical inventory every 4 weeks.
- Accurately complete and maintain daily log sheets, production charts, meat grinding logs, sales and labor reports, and other required paperwork.
- Perform receiving duties: break down loads, verify orders using invoices, inspect quality, report shortages, stock and rotate product.
- Adhere to product temperature and storage guidelines; follow proper packaging techniques.
- Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records.
- Control shrink and cost.
- Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
