Your day starts early by checking meat cases, equipment, and food safety logs to ensure compliance and readiness. You review inventory, write orders, and verify deliveries for quality. Throughout the day, you lead your team—scheduling, training, and supervising meat cutters and clerks—while maintaining attractive displays and accurate pricing. You’ll spend time cutting and preparing high-quality meats, fulfilling special customer requests, and delivering exceptional service. Regular tasks include monitoring reports, adjusting inventory and pricing, and enforcing safety and company policies. Physical activity is constant, with frequent lifting and standing in a temperature-controlled environment. By day’s end, you perform final culls, clean equipment, and set priorities for tomorrow.

Main Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Deliver high-quality service and handle special orders to build customer loyalty.
- Department Operations: Oversee daily operations, staffing, and scheduling for the meat department.
- Inventory & Ordering: Maintain accurate inventory, perform monthly counts, write meat orders, and verify deliveries for quality and accuracy.
- Merchandising & Pricing: Implement merchandising programs, ensure pricing integrity, and create display signage.
- Food Safety & Compliance: Enforce company policies, perform temperature/tare checks, and maintain safety standards.
- Product Quality: Cull cases daily, inspect for expired products, and follow markdown guidelines.
- Meat Processing: Safely operate saws, grinders, and knives to cut, trim, and prepare meat products.
- Reporting & Optimization: Review reports, identify opportunities, and suggest changes to inventory and pricing.
- Have knowledge of different cuts of meat and experience as a meat cutter or meat clerk.
- Bring prior department operations and staff management experience to lead a team effectively.
- Can safely operate meat processing equipment such as saws, grinders, and tenderizers.
- Are customer-focused, delivering excellent service and handling special orders with care.
- Possess strong organizational and multitasking skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Work well independently and as part of a team, showing initiative and leadership.
- Are self-motivated, eager to learn and share product knowledge with customers.
- Can use computers for reports, communications, and inventory tasks.
