Buyer II

Garrett Container Systems, Inc. (GCS), headquartered in Accident, Maryland, is a leading manufacturer of reusable aluminum storage and shipping containers. GCS specializes in custom-engineered, airtight welded containers designed to transport mission-critical equipment worldwide.

In 2022, GCS joined Albers Aerospace, expanding its capabilities and reach within the defense industry.

Job Summary:

The Buyer II is responsible for handling moderately complex purchases with some independence. This role evaluates suppliers, assists stakeholders with procurement needs, and may manage smaller categories or recurring spend with limited oversight.

Essential Job Functions:

• Conduct vendor comparisons and recommend suppliers.
• Work with stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve procurement issues.
• Manage recurring buys or smaller spend categories with limited oversight.
• Exercise some independent judgment; escalate major purchase decisions to management.
• May provide guidance or mentorship to Buyer I staff.

Non-Essential Functions:

• Assist with category analysis and reporting.
• Support process improvement initiatives in procurement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule:

The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8-10 hour shifts, with the flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed based on workload demands.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
• 2–5 years procurement or related business experience.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems preferred.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be a U.S citizen.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Working Conditions

• Onsite position with office environment and occasional exposure to manufacturing areas.
• Flexibility to adapt to peak workloads and tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
