About the Role
Reporting directly to the President, this cabinet-level leader serves as the university’s chief integrator, ensuring alignment, precision, and accountability across the institution’s most essential strategic and operational functions. The VPSUA will steward presidential priorities, elevate institutional performance, strengthen data-informed decision-making, and ensure that ASU delivers seamless, high-quality experiences across all major events, initiatives, and federally funded programs. Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the President’s principal integrator—ensuring alignment across priorities, functions, and university-wide initiatives.
- Lead strategic planning frameworks, annual priority-setting, and institutional performance monitoring.
- Oversee major university events with exceptional attention to detail, quality, and stakeholder experience.
- Provide executive leadership to align operations within the Office of the President with the needs of the wider campus.
- Direct the Project Management Office to ensure timely, effective execution of cross-functional initiatives.
- Promote organizational discipline, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across departments.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the President on strategy, performance, and institutional readiness.
- Ensure responsible stewardship and optimal utilization of Title III funding to strengthen ASU’s mission and capacity.
- Advance a strong data culture through accurate reporting, analysis, dashboards, and institutional research standards.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- A systems thinker with a deep understanding of university operations, project management, and strategic planning.
- A disciplined operator with a track record of executing complex initiatives on time and at a high standard.
- A highly organized leader capable of orchestrating presidential priorities, major events, and multi-department coordination.
- Data-fluent and committed to building a culture of evidence-based decision-making.
- Use data to support university growth initiatives and communications to support improved national ranking.
- Detail-oriented and execution-focused, with strong judgment and an ability to anticipate needs.
- Experienced in Title III or federal program stewardship, with a commitment to accountability and institutional advancement.
- Collaborative, diplomatic and a high emotional quotient, able to build strong partnerships across academic, administrative, students and external stakeholders.
- Deeply aligned with ASU’s mission, particularly its leadership role in expanding opportunity across rural Southwest Georgia.
- Higher education experience is preferred, especially in roles involving institutional research, strategic planning, project management, or executive operations.
Qualifications
- A master's degree in higher education, public administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in higher education administration, strategic planning, or a closely related field.
- Proven expertise in designing, building, and executing complex projects and strategic initiatives from concept to completion, driving alignment and engagement across diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to travel frequently within the scope of the position.
Preferred Skills
Higher education experience is preferred, especially in roles involving institutional research, strategic planning, project management, or executive operations.
