Job Title: RN - Ambulatory Pediatric Gastroenterology
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8am-4:30pm, No Weekends or Holidays
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the Pediatric Gastroenterology practice at Albany Medical Center. The successful candidate will provide direct patient care, patient triage, assessment, planning, directing and evaluating of a patient's specific care plan and clinic visit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain and accurately record patient vital signs and report abnormal values to treating providers
- Obtain and document patient medical history, surgical history and social history as related to the clinic visit
- Administer medications and treatments under the direction of a physician or advanced practice provider
- Participate in in-office procedures under the direction and supervision of a Physician or APP and documents results in Electronic Health Record
- Review and triage incoming test results, patient requests and pharmacy renewals, facilitating call-backs to patients as necessary
- Facilitate utilization of resources to meet patient outcomes and contribute to facility, New York State and National Quality data metrics
- Delegate tasks deemed appropriate per licensure of LPN and/or MA
- Adhere to regulatory agency (The Joint Commission) and internal compliance policies
- Orient and educate newly hired staff
- Complete continuous/annual education related to Clinic specialty to maintain knowledge base on current practices
- Provide education to patients related to their visit and overall health and wellness
Requirements:
• Associate's degree from a state accredited Registered Nursing program
• NYS current RN licensure to practice professional nursing
• Current CPR certification
• Certification in specialty, Ambulatory setting preferred
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from physicians, patients and their family members or other employees within the work setting
• Familiar with computer software
• Effective Written and Verbal Communication Skills
• Working Knowledge of MS Word and Excel
• Experience with electronic health record preferred
• Ability to give medications via all routes and ability to calculate medication doses
