The Unit Secretary is responsible and accountable to assist in the overall functioning of the unit in response to provider/customer needs encompassing communicative, receptionist, computer and secretarial services. These functions include, but are not limited to, assisting with medical records, admissions, transfers, discharge/death, transcribing selected physician orders, supplies and equipment, and unit records.

This position is responsible to support the Director in performing routine and complex activities that support service line operations. Primary functions include staffing, payroll and scheduling support, clerical support, and specific project work related to service needs.

Responsibilities

Performs clerical duties in support of the admission/discharge/transfer/death process.
Keeps medical record in order
Transcribes selected physician orders encompassing: tests, treatments, consults, medications, permits; prepares related requisitions and notifies appropriate departments and agencies.
Maintains and keeps current files, bulletin board and communication board.
Orders supplies/equipment for service.
Arranges for repair and replacement of facilities and equipment as needed and keeps related records.
Arranges for escort services of patients, specimens, supplies, equipment, and other items between unit and other areas of the hospital.
Send HCFA 2728(Chronic Medical Evidence Report) and HCFA 2746 (Death Notification) to appropriate agencies.
Completes and obtains signatures of physicians and client for HCFA Medical evidence Report.
ESRD Network reports complete as required.
Updates log book daily.
Do billing for dialysis and medications daily.
Do all payroll responsibilities.
Education/Accredited Programs
High School Graduate
Medical terminology preferred
Maintains current knowledge related to the age and development of the patient population in areas in which they work

Salary Range
The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $17.75 to $25.50 per hour. Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.
Salary : $18 - $26
