What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Aide position at Albany Housing Authority?
DESCRIPTION
This is an unskilled work involving the performance of various routine tasks related primarily to the overall curb appeal and cleanliness of Albany Housing Authority buildings and grounds. Activities are of a manual labor nature and physical strength and good overall health are a necessity. This class is distinguished from the class of Maintenance Laborer by the limited complexity of the tasks assigned and the prohibition of assigning the typical high rise building custodial duties to incumbents. Work may be supervised by any other title in the Albany Housing Authority.
Example of Work
Picking up and disposing of litter and other waste on Authority property.
Common area cleaning
Pick-up and disposal of discarded furniture, appliances, and other bulk items
Removal and disposal of abandoned property in vacated apartments.
Assisting the site staff or Groundskeeper with landscaping or other beautification projects.
Sweeping, raking, trimming, mowing, painting, etc
Performs related work as required
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to read and write simple information.
Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions.
Ability to perform relatively strenuous but uncomplicated work.
Must pass a pre-employment drug and physical screening.
