Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to promote optimal oral health.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current symptoms to inform treatment plans.
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and patient comfort.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and dietary recommendations.
- Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control measures, to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for documentation and scheduling management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry practices and providing care tailored to children’s needs.
- Expertise in chairside assisting, including handling dental equipment efficiently during procedures.
- Ability to accurately perform vital signs assessment and medical imaging procedures with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards for maintaining patient confidentiality and managing medical records securely.
- Familiarity with infection prevention management, healthcare infection control practices, aseptic technique, and dental equipment sterilization protocols.
