What are the responsibilities and job description for the Detention Cook - Part Time position at Albany County, Wyoming?
Albany County is seeking to hire a Cook in the Detention Center. This is a part-time, non-benefited position that will be responsible for providing a balanced nutritional program for the inmate population.
The work schedule for this position is one 5-hour shift per day, Thursday through Sunday. Depending on operational needs, shifts may be assigned in the morning, afternoon, or split between both.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Graduate or GED;
- Prefer some cooking experience.
Desired Qualifications:
- Be self-directed, organized;
- The ability to work independently as well as with other kitchen staff;
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
The Cook is responsible for performing the following duties:
- Preparing balanced nutritional meals for the occupants according to a pre-established menu;
- Ensuring that preparation techniques meet OSHA safety and health requirements for:Protective barriers during preparation; Proper serving size; Proper serving temperature; Proper equipment sanitation & storage.
- Accounting for utensil, equipment and implement:Counts before and after use (each meal); Proper function, condition, and needed repairs; Labor supervision & work schedules.
- Maintain the security of the kitchen areas and other areas used;
- Receive, off-load inventory, and store all supplies;
- Forecast, order, and verify projected supply needs;
- Comply with all Detention Center policies and procedures;
- Report to the Jail Administrator, Sergeant, Corporal/shift supervisor;
- Prepare and document meals prepared for inmates with special dietary needs;
- Other duties as assigned.
