JOB DESCRIPTION: Special Education Case Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
- The Special Education Case Manager serves as the administrative designee for Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and ensures that all special education processes are implemented with fidelity and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This position coordinates services for students with disabilities, facilitates collaboration among stakeholders, and supports the development and implementation of appropriate educational programming to meet individual student needs.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Special Education Case Manager:
- Chairs IEP meetings and serves as the administrative representative when designated. *
- Ensures compliance with all legal requirements related to the identification, evaluation, placement, and service provision for students receiving special education services. *
- Makes administrative decisions in alignment with district procedures and in the best interest of students. *
- Serves as a liaison between the school, families, staff, and outside agencies in the development and implementation of students’ IEPs. *
- Oversees the collection, analysis, and interpretation of student data to inform educational decision-making. *
- Provides direct services to students consistent with licensure and areas of expertise, as appropriate. *
- Maintains accurate, timely, and compliant records in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements. *
- Supports staff in understanding and implementing IEPs, accommodations, and modifications. *
- Participates in multidisciplinary team processes and contributes to student evaluations and program planning. *
- Follows the policies and procedures of the school(s) and the *
- Ensures that confidentiality is maintained for sensitive records and other information. *
- Participates in professional growth (such as professional organizations, coursework, workshops, and conferences) and other professional activities (such as school and/or District committees, taskforces, in-depth studies, or councils). *
- Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility, such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately; exhibiting sensitivity to those with special needs; maintaining good professional relationships with parents and community members; and presenting a good role model. *

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of special education law, regulations, and procedural requirements (IDEA, Section 504, FERPA).
- Ability to effectively lead meetings and facilitate collaborative decision-making processes.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret student data to inform programming decisions.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff, students, families, and community partners.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development, including educational, psychological, and behavioral domains.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree, certification from the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board with an endorsement in a special education-related area.
Work Experience: Experience as a special education teacher, related service provider, or a case manager is preferred.

Salary : $54,000 - $85,796
