What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Research Development position at Albany County, NY?
The Democratic Majority of the Albany County Legislature is seeking a full-time Director of Research.
Salary: $80,000–$95,000, commensurate with experience
Distinguishing Features of the Class
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, providing research for the development of legislation for legislative committees and/or legislators, attending legislative committees as assigned, supporting the research and policy needs of the Majority Office, working closely with County Departments to review legislative requests, and reviewing and/or researching proposed County budgets on behalf of the Legislature. Work is performed under the direction of the Majority Counsel on behalf of the Majority Leader. Does related work as required.
Typical Work Activities
• Conducts research studies involving collecting, interpreting and analyzing data for various legislative functions and activities at the request of legislators and/or as assigned by Majority Counsel
• Conducts research on various legal topics at the request of legislators and/or as assigned by Majority Counsel
• Researches and reviews legislation from various municipal governments throughout the state and country
• Attends and prepares and/or reports for minutes for committees as assigned
• Writes resolutions and local laws at the request of legislators and/or as assigned by Majority Counsel
• Reviews and researches the proposed County budget on behalf of the County Legislature
• Liaises with the County Executive’s Office and departments related to legislative activities and requests
• Assists legislators in the research and development of local programs and activities
