Paraprofessional

Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to support the educational needs of students at Albany Area Secondary School. This part-time position involves working closely with teachers and students to create a positive learning environment, assist with classroom activities, and provide additional support to students as needed. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and a commitment to fostering student success.

Responsibilities:

• Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and organizing classroom activities.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them with assignments and understanding course content.
• Monitor student behavior and provide guidance to promote a positive classroom atmosphere.
• Support students with special needs by implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) under the direction of the teacher.
• Assist in the supervision of students during lunch, recess, and other non-classroom activities.
• Maintain student records and documentation as required.
• Communicate effectively with teachers, students, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or school administration.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping students succeed.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
• Ability to pass a background check and comply with school district policies.
• Flexibility to work part-time hours as scheduled.
