Cement Finisher

UNION CONTRACTOR LOOKING FOR UNION CEMENT FINISHERS.

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Concrete Placement and Finishing

• Set, align, inspect, and adjust concrete forms to required pitch, depth, and grade
• Pour, spread, level, screed, float, trowel, and finish concrete surfaces
• Mold edges and expansion joints using appropriate hand and power tools
• Produce specified surface finishes, including smooth, broom, stamped, decorative, terrazzo, or polished finishes
• Monitor curing conditions and adjust work methods based on weather, temperature, and site conditions

Repair, Restoration, and Decorative Work

• Chip, grind, cut, drill, and remove damaged or defective concrete
• Patch, fill, and restore concrete surfaces using grout, slurry, or other compounds
• Install reinforcing rods, anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills, and embedded fixtures
• Apply sealants, waterproofing compounds, hardeners, and curing agents
• Perform decorative concrete work, including coloring, stamping, terrazzo, and polishing

Tools, Equipment, and Materials

• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and mechanized equipment including mixers, vibrators, saws, grinders, polishers, and screeds
• Mix concrete, grout, and related materials manually or using mechanical equipment
• Build, install, and remove wooden or metal forms and molds
• Use ride-on troweling machines, laser screeds, 3D laser profilers
• Work with lasers to establish elevations and grades
• Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition

Coordination and Jobsite Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate with laborers and equipment operators during concrete placement
• Signal truck drivers and equipment operators to ensure proper positioning
• Inspect completed work to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications
• Work as part of a crew and maintain clear communication with supervisors and coworkers
• Follow all safety rules, procedures, and jobsite requirements

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

A Cement Finisher must be physically capable of meeting the following demands on a regular and recurring basis:

• Lift, carry, push, or pull a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted
• Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
• Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, and crawl for prolonged periods
• Perform repetitive hand, arm, and upper‐body movements
• Maintain balance while working on uneven surfaces, forms, scaffolding, or fresh concrete
• Climb ladders and climb a minimum of two flights of stairs unassisted
• Work in close physical proximity to other workers and moving equipment
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods
