What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cook position at Alaskan Leader Fisheries?
Alaskan Leader Fisheries is looking for a well-qualified cook to work on board a fishing vessel in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. Previous at sea experience is a must. Some of the duties include:
Plan menus for 3 meals and 3 snacks per day for crew of 24, then prepare and implement the menu.
Supervise receipt of all food and supplies.
Take full and accurate physical inventory before each order.
Write food and supplies order using Excel worksheet and other computer programs.
Keep records.
Laundry or management of all crew laundry.
Insure compliance with Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation regulations.
General housekeeping for galley, mess, heads/showers, hallways, laundry area and recreation room.
Repair and maintenance of all galley equipment and small wares.
18 hour days, 7 days a week. 60 day commitment is ideal.
Vessel employs only one cook per fishing trip.
You must be able to stand for long periods of time, carry and lift at least 60 pounds of product up and down stairs, amongst other duties, while the vessel is being tossed around the Bering Sea.
Pay is a percentage of the catch and can range from $225-$500 per day. We will pay airfare to and from the vessel from anywhere within the United States.
