The Alaska Primary Care Association (APCA) is seeking a Health Center Operations and Quality Department Director to provide strategic leadership for statewide efforts supporting Community Health Centers.
This senior leadership role is accountable for deeply understanding health center needs, helping prioritize them across APCA’s portfolio, and ensuring APCA’s operational and quality improvement support is timely, practical, and responsive. The Director guides APCA’s work in health center operations, population health, and quality improvement—partnering with health centers and using data-driven approaches to improve patient outcomes and health system performance across Alaska.
Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Director oversees a team and manages programs, grants, and budgets that advance operational effectiveness and quality improvement. The role includes translating identified needs and priorities into clear, actionable plans; coordinating implementation; tracking milestones and deliverables; and using performance data to monitor impact on patient outcomes.
Responsibilities also include supervising staff, developing and leading complex projects, supporting funding proposals, ensuring compliance with regulatory and grant requirements, and representing APCA in partnerships and policy discussions. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience, expertise in health systems or public health, a collaborative, mission-driven approach to advancing access to high-quality primary care for Alaskans, and the ability to respond flexibly to emerging health center needs, policy changes, public health events, or funding opportunities that affect health centers.
