What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receiving Associate position at Alaska Logistics LLC?
Key Responsibilities
- Physical receipt, tagging, and system entry of all freight received in the yard
- Track and account for freight by completing physical load sheets showing where freight is loaded
- Generate hazardous manifests for tug and barge operations
- Record and enter stow plans for tug and barge freight operations
- Reconcile stow plans against discharge paperwork and hazardous manifests to ensure accuracy
- Match and verify freight paperwork, including received and loaded documentation for billing purposes
- Enter inter-port and southbound freight into the system and provide documentation to the sales department for billing
- Enter and track new equipment within company systems and maintain associated paperwork
- Monitor and report damaged equipment to appropriate team members
- Track freight and equipment through load and discharge entries
- Supply ports with accurate and timely documentation for barge arrivals
- Generate paperwork for crews at various ports including stow plans, hazardous manifests, discharge lists, split lists, and freight delivery paperwork
- Travel to ports as needed to receive, record, tag, discharge, and load freight
- Distribute freight to customers and obtain required signatures upon delivery
- Approve port invoices related to tonnage and barge dock time if assigned
- Respond to questions and coordinate with customers, crews, sales staff, and operations teams
- Assist in locating freight and resolving freight discrepancies when needed
- Ensure Tacoma and other ports have necessary materials and documentation to support freight operations
- Train team members on freight receiving, booking procedures, and system processes
- Assist with unloading inbound freight and loading outbound containers as needed
- Support yard operations to ensure freight is loaded efficiently
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Maritime, freight, transportation, or logistics experience preferred
- Experience with freight documentation, inventory tracking, or yard operations preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Computer literate and comfortable learning operational systems
- Understanding of hazardous freight documentation is a plus
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work outdoors and travel to various ports as needed
- Forklift or heavy equipment experience is a plus

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
