What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Systems Technician position at Alarm Fire & Security, LLC?
We are seeking a Security Systems Technician with skills in basic IT network administration and low-voltage system installation. The ideal candidate will assist in setting up, configuring, and maintaining networks, as well as installing and servicing access control systems, security cameras, gate systems, and burglar alarms.
This role combines hands-on field work with technical IT support duties and offers opportunities for growth as our client base expands.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure IP-based security cameras, access control readers, gate systems, burglar alarms, and related systems.
- Perform basic network setup and troubleshooting, including routers, switches, and IP addressing.
- Maintain and support existing client systems and provide remote or onsite technical assistance.
- Run and terminate network and low-voltage cabling (CAT5e/CAT6).
- Assist with system programming, firmware updates, and configuration of devices.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain accurate job documentation and communicate project updates to management.
- Communicating clearly and efficiently with customers.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or technical certification preferred).
- 1 years of experience in IT networking, low-voltage installation, or security systems.
- Basic understanding of network configuration (IP addresses, DHCP, static routing, etc.).
- Experience with systems such as Axis, Hikvision, Honeywell, or similar is a plus.
- Ability to use tools, ladders, and test equipment safely.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Access control and gate systems experience is a plus.
Preferred Certifications (Not Required)
- CompTIA Network or A
- Axis Certified Professional
- NICET Certified
- Any manufacturer-specific access control or alarm training
