What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Associate position at Alan Biller?
We are seeking Research Associates to assist Analysts on a broad range of asset classes, including public equities, fixed income, private equity, private debt, infrastructure, and commercial real estate. The ideal candidate is seeking a robust experience in institutional portfolio construction and manager research.
Responsibilities:
- Qualitative and quantitative analysis to assess investment strategies
- Due diligence includes data analysis, manager conference calls, on-site visits, and write-ups
- Analyze manager performance to determine the drivers of risk and return, alpha composition, and the robustness of the strategy in various market environments
- Work collaboratively with team members
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance or Business
- CFA preferred and a desire to pursue the designation if not completed
- Three years (or more) of relevant experience, especially in institutional investments
- Working knowledge of investment strategies and capital markets
- Proficient with Excel and financial information systems (e.g. eVestment, HFR, MPI)
- Experience with portfolio analytics/attribution through Barclays Point, Factset, or Bloomberg
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Detail oriented and ability to synthesize data and make deductive decisions.
- Excellent communication skills - written, verbal and presentation skills for internal/external audiences as well as strong listening and questioning skills
- Robust organizational skills and ability to work effectively under pressure
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills and work ethic
- Willingness to take initiative, exercise independent judgment and act decisively

In determining the base salary, relevant and number of years’ experience are considered.
