What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hydraulic Engineer position at Alan Barry Consultants?
Do you love designing hydraulic systems that actually work in the field — not just on paper?
We’re looking for a Hydraulics Engineer who can turn real-world fabrication experience into solid, reliable design solutions.
About Us
Alan Barry Consultants partners with leading global OEMs in heavy equipment, mining, and industrial machinery. With engineering teams across the U.S. and India, we specialize in design, drafting, and technical support that meets world-class standards.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and validate hydraulic and lubrication systems for large mining and industrial equipment.
- Build and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings using Siemens NX (or similar 3D CAD tools like Creo/SolidWorks).
- Work closely with fabrication and assembly teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and serviceable.
- Support prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, and real-world validation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration and documentation in Teamcenter PLM.
- Potential international travel to manufacturing/assembly plant to monitor operations.
What We’re Looking For:
- 7–10 years of experience in hydraulic design for off-highway, mining, or industrial equipment.
- Hands-on fabrication or assembly experience — you understand how systems come together in reality.
- Strong 3D modeling and drawing skills (NX preferred).
- Deep understanding of hydraulic components — pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, fittings.
- Familiarity with ISO/SAE hydraulic standards.
Education:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Fluid Power Engineering — or equivalent hands-on experience.
- We value skill and practical insight as much as formal education.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with lubrication systems, electro-hydraulic controls, or thermal management.
- Familiarity with Teamcenter PLM.
Location: Milwaukee, WI (Potential Hybrid flexibility in future)
Type: Full-time / Long-term assignment
