TITLE: MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR AHS District Counselor

Definition

The staff member will recognize the warning signs of various mental health disorders in students. Assess the risk of, intervene in, respond and prevent youth suicidal behavior. Provide direct services to students, school staff and working collaboratively with community service and long-term therapy providers. A staff member responsible for supporting the social/emotional needs of high school students in their personal development to support the learning process.

Qualifications

• The individual must be appropriately certified and/or licensed as a Licensed Practicing
• Counselor – LPC with DORA license or a Licensed Social Worker with DORA license. license can also be a school counselor.
• Experience in mediation and small group counseling to address social/emotional issues
• Strong knowledge of ethics

The building principal.

Responsibilities And Duties

• Provide individual and/or small group counseling.
• Provide resources and support to classroom teachers.
• Supports the MTSS process and works closely with the MTSS Coordinator
• Other duties as assigned

• Number of days assigned annually.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy and procedures.
