Faculty Job Description Continuing Education Instructor - 27050 (Public Water Systems Operator)
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Position responsible for teaching Continuing Education classes. Continuing Education Instructors are hired in a part-time capacity, contingent upon the needs of the department.
Classes are offered during daytime, evenings, and weekends as well as some College holidays. Classes are offered at various times and locations during the academic year.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
1. Teaches program specific Continuing Education courses.
2. Develops CE curriculum for specified/selected classes.
3. Collaborates with CE Program Manager to develop CE schedules.
4. Teaches courses at a variety of times and locations, including evening and weekends.
5. Serves as a community resource person and represents the college to outside groups when requested.
6. Submits required college reports and forms.
7. Develops and utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
8. Advises students in career and program matters.
9. Provides timely, quality access to students through electronic communication, or other appropriate method.
10. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Strong interpersonal skills and aptitude to work with people at many different levels. Ability to perform required computerized tasks to include any combination of word processing, e-mail, internet, or web-based applications. Excellent and effective oral and written communication skills and abilities with all levels of the organization internal and external to students to program directors and Administrators. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers at all levels of the organization EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Minimum Education: Varies based on subject/course being taught and in accordance with the Guidelines for Instructional Programs in Workforce Education (GIPWE). Minimum Experience: Varies based on subject/course being taught and in accordance with the Guidelines for Instructional Programs in Workforce Education (GIPWE).
High School Diploma or GED equivalent plus 8 yrs experience, Bachelor’s Degree plus 5 yrs experience, or Master's Degree plus 4 yrs experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
TCEQ approved instructor
Licenses/Certifications:
Class A Water or Wastewater License.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
