Position: Clinic Coordinator (School-Based Health Center)

Alameda Family Services is a progressive, non-profit agency that provides clinically sophisticated, comprehensive mental health and early childhood educational services to individuals and families in the City and County of Alameda through several programs: Early Head Start, Head Start, Family Support Services, School Based Services, and Behavioral Health Care Services (Counseling and a APA accredited Narrative Therapy Training Program). SCHOOL BASED SERVICES

Alameda Family Services’ School Based Services Program provides a multitude of health and wellness services to youth on school campuses in the Alameda Unified School District. Services include individual and group counseling, case management, as well as health education, and youth development.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

A Student Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the School-Based Health Centers Manager and Program Director. The Student Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative, clerical, and program support to the School-Based Health Center (SBHC) through coordinating operations and student services. This position is responsible for reception, scheduling, data entry, as well as supporting mental health outreach, health education and youth development. The position includes collaboration with members of the Clinic Coordinator Team and other School-Based Services Staff.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide administrative and clerical support for School-Based Health Center including supporting coordination for all relevant program services.
  • Accurately enter program service data as needed for evaluation and contract compliance.
  • Maintain a welcoming atmosphere through courteous interactions and the distribution of information and referral services for youth, guardians, and the school community.
  • Assist School-Based Health Centers Manager in creating, developing, and implementing systems and protocols for Health Center operations.
  • Assist in coordination of a peer health education and youth advisory group.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the School-Based Health Center.
  • Organize and file all program related forms and materials.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies and order as needed.
  • Support the facilitation of outreach & awareness events, presentations and trainings to school personnel, students, and community.
  • Support SBHC staff in providing health education and support to students via in-person activities, social media, and occasionally via remote/virtual services.
  • Act as program representative on campus and in the community.
  • Attend and participate in a variety of program and agency meetings, as well as professional development trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned by Program Director & School-Based Health Centers Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1 year of both administrative assistance and clerical experience OR 2 years of secretary, reception, or clerical experience.
  • Experience working within a healthcare setting highly preferred.
  • Experience working with multi-cultural populations.
  • Health education and community engagement
  • Energy, enthusiasm, and a desire to work with adolescents in a health care setting.
  • Knowledge of procedures and protocols of working within a school setting.
  • Skills in organization and record keeping.
  • Google Drive and Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
  • Knowledge of Canva and/or other design and publishing tools
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems preferred
  • Ability to appropriately interact and support students, parents, co-workers, and school faculty.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability and desire to initiate projects.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Multi-language capacity desired.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • The School Based Services program requires a background check and clearance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ)background prior to employment.
  • A current TB Test Results is required prior to employment.
