The Assistant Principal, Alternative Education supports the Director in holding the Counseling Enriched Program which provides specialized academic instruction and therapeutic classroom support to students with identified disabilities whose educational needs require a highly structured, therapeutic, and trauma-informed learning environment. The Assistant Principal serves students in counseling-enriched special education settings operated by the Whole Child Department and the SPA school program. This school is a new program, and staff will play an important role in helping build its foundation and shape its culture, systems, and practices. The program has strong support from the Superintendent as well as the committee that thoughtfully designed and developed the vision for this initiative. Team members will have the unique opportunity to contribute to a collaborative effort focused on creating a high-quality program for students from the ground up. Requirements / Qualifications
Education & Experience: ? Bachelor Degree required, Masters preferred. ? Valid Clear California Teaching Credential. ? Valid Clear Administrative Credential desired, will consider Preliminary Administrative Credential or Certificate of Eligibility. ? Have a minimum of five years of experience working with adolescents in an alternative school setting or serving vulnerable populations. ? Have experience and a commitment to meeting the needs of all students, including students with significant learning gaps and special education needs.
