Sustainability Specialist
Alameda County Industries provides solid waste, recycle and organics collection to residents and businesses in the cities of Alameda, Castro Valley, San Leandro and San Ramon.
ACI is currently in search of a Sustainability Specialist. This position will be based out of our main office in San Leandro.
**We are looking to fill this requisition immediately**
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The actual duties required of this position will vary.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
- Identifies, leads, manages prospects; increases waste reduction services at new and existing customer sites
- Prepares and delivers recycling programs outreach, presentations and trainings and follows up with key contacts
- Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge of the company’s available services and pricing as well as state and local program requirements
- Understands customer needs and how to formulate suggestions and proposals in ways that meet customer needs.
- Tracks information on prospective customers on company’s customer database and other required formats as needed
- Interacts with staff from local governmental agencies on various waste reduction program activities
- Regularly meets with operation supervisors for review of programs proposed at customers’ sites
- Prepared and distributes various recycling activity reports
- Notifies non-franchised haulers of franchise violations related to roll-off container services
- Cultivates and improves community partnerships by attending and participating in public events, meetings and other programs on behalf of the organization.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.75% field work 25% office work
Requirements:
- Ability to proficiently use customer database system
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis in Microsoft Excel and letter writing
- Equivalent of High School Diploma or G.E.D
- Two years’ experience with customer contact in sales, ideally in solid waste and/ or recycling services
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a friendly disposition
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
- Valid driver's license
