POSITION SUMMARY:

The Community Grants Strategist manages Alameda County–funded community grant programs, ensuring strong partner support, compliance, and impact. This role serves as the primary liaison between Alameda County Community Food Bank and contracted community-based organizations, with a focus on Prepared Meals and Essential Services. The position emphasizes program management, partner relationships, data integrity, and continuous process improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop comprehensive grant programs to administer and implement county grants.
  • Manage county-funded community grant programs, including goal setting, agreements, monitoring, compliance, and reporting.
  • Lead and manage relationships with contracted community-based partners to advance shared goals; align resources and provide ongoing programmatic and technical support for collective maximum impact.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to measure the success of Partner’s programs performance, deliverables, and outcomes.
  • Create grant reporting tool(s) to adhere to contractual agreements and provide data insights for programmatic improvements.
  • Facilitate regular meetings to ensure strategic alignment and provide community support with leadership, cross-function teams, and external stakeholders.
    Collaborate with Finance, Development, and Programs in tracking, invoicing, and compliance processes.
  • Maintain accurate grants, partners, and compliance data in Salesforce, support data cleanup and quality assurance.
  • Identify, leverage, and implement technological and process solutions to improve efficiency and compliance.
  • Resolve grantee questions related to applications, contracts, and compliance requirements.
  • Design and promote strong customer service practices between staff and community partners.
  • Serve as an active and influential member of the Impact Division and build strong and productive relationships with colleagues and departments across the Food Bank.
  • Represent Food Bank to other Feeding America food banks, other nonprofits, and funders.
  • All other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Required Competencies:

  • 5-7 years’ experience in social service field.
  • Minimum 3 years of proven, successful program management experience from strategic development through implementation.
  • Experience in building collaborative partnerships with community and faith-based organizations of various sizes.
  • Strong customer service orientation; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Clear and effective communicator; excellent diplomacy skills; comfort navigating difficult conversations including giving and receiving feedback.
  • Proven experience with setting and driving timelines and deliverables for multiple concurrent projects and building consensus in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, experience keeping accurate records on complex programs.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Comfort and experience regularly working with relational database management systems (Salesforce, MS Access, Microsoft NAV, CERES), including ability to perform queries, compile data and generate reports.
  • Access to reliable transportation for spontaneous local travel. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a nonprofit environment with a variety of stakeholders and deeply rooted community values.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Cantonese.
  • Knowledge of and experience with issues related to food insecurity and its root causes.
  • Experience with emergency food programs.
  • Knowledgeable in food safety practices.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This work is in both office environment and community settings. Physical activities necessary in the performance of this job include ability to: Sit for prolonged periods; move throughout the food bank in performance of duties; visit community settings; conduct site visits including walking, bending, stopping, and squatting; communicate in a clear speaking voice; interpret instructions; and use a computer.

UNION REPRESENTATION:
ACCFB is in partnership with and has an established labor union for a portion of our staff. This position is presently NOT part of the labor union OPEIU Local 29, at this time. 

COMPENSATION:
This is a full-time, fixed term position with the end date that coincides with its funding (3 years from the date of hire). This is an exempt position working Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (7.5 hour workday; 30 minute unpaid lunch). The non-negotiable starting salary for this position is $102,000 per year.
