About the Role
Chief Medical Officer/Medical Director - Psychiatrist
The ideal candidate will have experience overseeing psychiatric services in a county setting, behavioral health organization, acute psychiatric facility, or integrated medical/behavioral health facility. They will be well-versed in the WIC, LPS, and other legislative matters related to county operations, as well as the provision and oversight of outpatient pharmacy, nursing, and general behavioral health (mental health and substance use) treatment requirements.
Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, and directs a major service; supervises a multidisciplinary team and paramedical staff; coordinates the assigned service with other County health services; evaluates existing programs; and plans, organizes, and directs new programs within the assigned service.
- Prepares and conducts educational programs for the physician community in areas such as Grand Rounds and medical society meetings.
- Recruits, interviews, and evaluates professional staff assigned to the service.
- Acts as liaison between the service and all other clinical, paramedical, and administrative services.
- Conducts medical examinations and prescribes treatments and provides consultative services to the professional staff and to other services.
Qualifications
- The equivalent of four years of post-residence experience which must have included at least two years of experience with teaching, supervisory, and administrative responsibility.
- License: Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.
- Specialty Requirement: The current vacancy is for a position with psychiatric specialty which requires successful completion of a four-year residency in psychiatry.
