What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Worker III- FJC Navigator position at Alamance County Government?

The Family Justice Center Navigator will increase agency capacity by serving as the portal of entry and contact for clients seeking services at the FJC. Duties include interviewing clients to determine appropriate services, assisting clients by coordinating the various programs and services at the FJC.

The primary purpose of the Family Justice Center is to provide the backbone infrastructure for our community’s response to interpersonal violence. It is a public/private partnership of agencies dedicated to ending domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking and elder abuse through prevention, education and a coordinated response of comprehensive, client-centered empowerment services organized in a single location.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

80% Client Service Coordination

  • Performs initial intake to screen for appropriateness of FJC services,
  • Assess for level of lethality, and identifies most pressing needs;
  • Explains available services and programs,
  • Makes referrals to internal services or external programs/agencies,
  • Navigate client through services;
  • Provides support and crisis intervention in areas of domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse, stalking, human trafficking and sexual assault;
  • Completes appropriate documentation with clients,
  • Makes and tracks referrals to services,
  • Provides follow up with clients;
  • Attends High Risk Team case review for FJC;
  • Shares information regarding mutual cases through a system of signed client releases of information;
  • Ensures that all activities carried out in the name of the Family Justice Center are in accordance with the Center’s mission, policies and procedures, as well as its purpose and intent.

10% Assure quality services and program efficiency and effectiveness

  • Analyzes, interprets, and explains policies, procedures, etc. to clients, the public, partners and/or staff when required;
  • Compiles and reports statistical data as required;
  • Maintains client records including: danger assessment, intake paperwork, referrals, client releases, visit summaries, and case review documenting;
  • Performs tasks related to the day-to-day function of the FJC.

10% Influence community attitudes and practice

  • Encourages collaboration and communication within the partnership to ensure victim-centered services;
  • Participates in meetings and committees for planning program services/activities;
  • Monitors, evaluates, and provides feedback;
  • Creates and designs social media plan including awareness of interpersonal violence issues, outreach to potential victims, education for the community, and promoting FJC.

Education & Experience: A four-year degree in public service administration, psychology, sociology, or social work or a human service programmatic field, preferably with coursework in human service planning; or graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of administrative or consultative experience in a human service program; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Two to three years of prior experience in a victim services, social work, or comparable field.

Computer Skills: Prior experience with intermediate Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) knowledge required. Prior experience working with a client database.

License/Credentials: Possession of a valid NC driver’s license.
