What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Maintenance Worker position at Alamance County Government?
Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of unskilled manual work and tasks requiring the use of power and handheld small tools for the maintenance, repair of buildings and Grounds. Position will perform semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance and repair in multiple trades including landscaping, basic electrical, basic plumbing, masonry, heating and air, carpentry or similar specialization. Position requires on-call duty during inclement weather events.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Performs routine maintenance tasks such as painting, carpet/floor cleaning, plumbing, caulking, etc. as instructed by the Lead Maintenance Technician or Supervisor.
- Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
- Rakes, sweeps, and cleans parking areas, ditches, basins, etc… by removing leaves and debris.
- Furniture assembly, rearranges or moves furniture for social events, activities and office relocation.
- Assists other maintenance workers in the performance of duties by handing tools, holding materials, cleaning work areas and assisting with minor repairs with plumbing, electrical and construction.
- Operates County vehicles and equipment (trucks and tractors), loading and unloading trucks, storing items and stocking items as instructed.
- Responsible for operating and maintaining equipment, leaf blowers, pressure washers, small power and/or hand tools as required.
- Performs basic landscaping duties as needed including leaf blowing, picking up trash, sweeping, weeding beds and other Ground maintenance needs.
- Perform other assignments and projects as needed in support of the Maintenance Department.
- Assists with storm damage cleanup and /or shelter set-ups when needed.
Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
Experience: Prior knowledge and experience in building and grounds service and/or maintenance background.
Computer Skills: Must have a basic to intermediate functional knowledge of computers.
License/Credentials: Possession of a valid NC driver’s license.
