What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cycle Instructor position at Alamance County Community YMCA?
NOTE: We are seeking an instructor to lead our Tuesday and Thursday 5:30PM - 6:15PM Spin classes, and are looking to add more.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA group exercise classes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS IN ALL PROGRAM SPECIFIC AREAS:
· Creates a safe environment in which all individuals feel welcomed and respected; build relationships with and among members and program participants.
· Leads energizing, fun, safe and educational group classes, as directed by supervisor, which align with the healthy living program goals and objectives.
· Understands different health needs; observes and adjusts approach to support all participants’ capabilities, physical conditions health and culture.
· Asks and answers questions and displays empathy in support of helping member and program participants build confidence to achieve their health and wellness goals.
· Identifies and celebrates the successes of members and program participants.
· Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to participants.
· Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergencies.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT:
· Adhere to policies related to boundaries with participants
· Attend required abuse risk management training
· Adhere to procedures related to managing high risk activities and supervising participants
· Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations

QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Certification in area of expertise preferred
· Completion of Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire
· At least one year of experience teaching group exercise classes preferred
· Must be passionate about member engagement and the development of their wellness plan.
· Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
