Job Summary
Operates computer-controlled laser machine to produce blanks for additional manufacturing operations or sold as is, as finished parts.
Position is Monday-Thursday night; 6am-6:30pm.
Pay $21-$24hour DOE
Shift premium for night shift of $3.00 hour.
Essential Duties
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand bend or twist; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.

Essential Duties
- Is able to determine if material supplied meets production requirements.
- Removes cut pieces from sheet and examines for defects associated with laser cutting including edge quality and surface nonconformities including scratches.
- Fills out production paperwork and timekeeping records.
- Maintains a safe, clean and orderly work area in compliance with facility housekeeping policies.
- Wears required safety equipment and follows the equipment safe operation procedures.
- Is able to correctly fill out tags associated with production to identify parts produced.
- Is required to read blueprints to review characteristics that need to be monitored. If assistance is required, then the operator is to get help from QA or Laser Operations Manager
- Monitors the calibration of the equipment they use within their department.
- Has the ability to check parts utilizing calipers, micrometers and height gages.
- Is able to measure parts effectively to guarantee conformity to print specifications.
- Is able to perform basic maintenance on the laser including nozzle changes and the nozzle centering operation.
- Know what the Company ‘Quality Policy’ and ‘Quality Objectives’ mean to them and their role associated with the achievement of these objectives.
- Assist the Cell Leader with the introduction of ‘Continuous Improvement’ ideas.
- Able to properly start up and shut down laser machine.
- Competent at basic programming/editing and control.
- Variable programs (circle, square, rectangle etc.).
- Able to fix head crash.
- Can effectively perform window changing and cleaning.
- Can effectively perform a nozzle change alignment.
- Is able to load correct program into control to run correct parts and quantities.
- Is able to measure parts utilizing calipers, micrometers and height gages.
- Is able to read blueprints to determine characteristics required to monitor.
- Performs the maintenance activities described in the PM log.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience: 2-3 years prior experience
- Computer Skills: Basic computer knowledge
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Has valid crane certification/Sheet lifter training. – Tow motor certification
- Special Requirements:

- Steel toed shoes are required in all manufacturing cells.
