Role Description The Digital Humanities/User Services Librarian-Assistant Professor is a full-time, on-site faculty position based in Montgomery, AL. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting digital humanities projects in collaboration with faculty, students, and staff across disciplines. The librarian provides front-line user services, including research assistance, reference consultations, information literacy instruction, and workshops that promote effective use of library resources and digital tools. Daily responsibilities include maintaining high-quality customer service at public service points, assisting with digital collections and institutional repository initiatives, and supporting the integration of digital scholarship into teaching and learning. The position also involves participating in outreach activities, contributing to library assessment and administrative tasks, engaging in scholarship and service, and collaborating with campus partners to enhance the library’s role in digital scholarship and student success.

- ALA-accredited master’s degree in library and information science (or equivalent) required; additional graduate work or experience in digital humanities or a related field preferred.
- Experience with or strong interest in digital humanities tools, methods, and platforms (e.g., digital exhibits, text analysis, data visualization, or digital archives).
- Demonstrated proficiency with online databases, discovery tools, and research resources, as well as comfort with learning new technologies.
- Evidence of or potential for scholarly activity, campus and professional service, and ongoing professional development consistent with faculty status.
- Ability to work on-site, including some evenings or weekends as needed to support instruction, events, or service points.
