Position Title: Physical Education Teacher
Department or Unit: School Assignment
Reports To: Principal
Supervises: None
Job Summary: To provide an educational environment in which students succeed academically, socially and physically in accordance with system philosophy, goals and objectives.
Typical Duties:
1. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of child development and especially of characteristics of students in the age group assigned. Demonstrates knowledge of the prescribed curriculum, exhibits skills in implementing the best instructional practices and varied teaching methods, to address student learning styles and achieve meaningful and measurable outcomes, in accordance with course of study guidelines and student learning objectives.
2. Maintains appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly environment in which to learn.
3. Establishes routines and uses behavior management techniques which are appropriate and effective.
4. Engages in personal professional growth, adheres to professional standards, and demonstrates professional ethics, sound judgment, and leadership.
5. Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding student/school/workplace matters.
6. Responds to inquiries, requests, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
7. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal and local regulations.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
- Valid teaching certificate in the grade level, subject area(s) assigned. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.
