Virtual Learning Monitor
Job Goal
To monitor the academic progress of virtual students, maintain detailed records, prepare reports as assigned, and ensure students have access to high-quality virtual learning opportunities that support successful course completion and program participation.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 48 semester hours of credit from an accredited college and/or university or an associate's degree from an accredited post-secondary institution or a passing score on WorkKeys.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Demonstrated knowledge of digital learning platforms, blended learning environments, or virtual instruction systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, counselors, teachers, students, parents, and district personnel.
- Must meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certificate/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of virtual learning environments, digital curriculum platforms, and online instructional systems.
- Ability to monitor and interpret student progress data within digital learning platforms.
- Ability to identify signs of disengagement or inadequate academic progress and respond appropriately.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, school personnel, and external partners.
- Ability to use technology to communicate, manage data, and produce reports.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, counselors, staff, students, and families.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple students and responsibilities efficiently.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student record information.
- Knowledge and understanding of Board policies and procedures.
- Physical mobility, dexterity, strength, and visual acuity to perform required work.
Essential Functions
- Provides instructional assistance and encouragement to students to complete their assignments.
- Daily monitoring of attendance, progress, pacing, and performance within virtual learning platforms
- Maintains records of individual student progress and prepares reports as assigned regarding program enrollment, progress, outcomes, and other relevant data.
- Addresses concerns related to student engagement, academic integrity, and completion.
- Communicates with students, parents, Virtual Learning Specialist, counselors, and administrators regarding student progress, expectations, and program requirements.
- Supports student transitions into and out of the virtual learning program, including enrollment, return to in-person instruction, or completion of temporary placements due to disciplinary, health-related, or emergency circumstances.
- Collaborates with the Virtual Learning Specialist and external platform providers as needed to address system, access, or configuration issues affecting student participation in virtual learning platforms.
- Attends meetings, training sessions, and professional learning activities as required.
- Takes leave time in accordance with Board policy and reports all absences to the district’s absence management system.
- Reports to work on time and regularly as designated by work schedule.
- Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned.
Terms of Employment
The terms of employment shall be in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy Manual, Students First Act , and the Board’s Salary Schedule – Virtual Learning Monitor. This is a 187 day contract (9 month) position.
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
