POSITION: Head Football Coach
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Alabama Teacher Certification in a Secondary Field.
- Ability to organize, develop and supervise a total sports program.
- Has previous successful varsity football coaching experience.
- Head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport, and at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
- Head coaching experience preferred.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Has a thorough knowledge of TCS athletic policy and procedure and is responsible for implementation by the entire staff of the sports program.
- Has knowledge of AHSAA and NFHS regulations and implements them consistently with staff.
- Establishes philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by staff.
- Determines and maintains discipline, adjusts grievances, and works to increase morale and cooperation.
- Designs and initiates conferences, clinics, and weekly staff meetings.
- Provides feedback to coaches.
- Responsible for scheduling, providing transportation, and attending special events.
- Coordinates programs with district staff.
- Adheres to AHSAA requirements and procedures promptly.
- Gives constant attention to student athlete’s grades and NCAA Eligibility Center participation.
- Attends all games, practices, training sessions, and traveling occasions to ensure the safety and supervision of participants.
- Responsible for creating a program budget based on needs and submitting it to Athletic Directors.
- Inspects, maintains, inventories and purchases equipment within AHSAA and district guidelines as approved by the principal.
- Examines locker rooms and all other aspects of facilities to ensure safe and successful use before and after competitions.
- Organizes parents, coaches, booster clubs, and participants for pre-season and postseason meetings.
- Understands, promotes and ensures program equity among all sports.
- Creates and maintains collaboration with local organizations to promote student participation.
- Responsible for maintaining good public relations with faculty, staff, administration, community, booster clubs, parents, officials, volunteers and fans.
