English Learner (EL) Teacher

Has knowledge of the Hispanic culture and other cultures and the ability to relate to other English Learner (EL) populations.

Has a thorough understanding of local, state, and federal procedures, guidelines, and law for English Learners.

Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives.

Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.

Evaluates the educational programs and/or student progress.

Writes Individual English Learner Plans (I-ELPSs) as stated in the Eufaula City Schools Comprehensive EL District Plan.

Plans and implements ongoing professional development as it relates to ELs.

Assesses ELs using a state-approved assessment.

Works closely with appropriate school staff to meet the needs of each EL and their families, including initiating parent-teacher conferences.

Maintain confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner, especially when serving as liaison between the EL, the students’s home, school, and community agencies in an effort to adequately meet the needs of ELs and their families.

Works closely with the Associate Superintendent to implement program objectives, organize and maintain documentation, and to assist in collecting data to complete reports to meet local, state, and federal guidelines.

Work with building principal to assist with duties related to the job description.

Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal and/or Associate Superintendent, as long as they are not in conflict with board policy.
