Job Title: CTE GRAPHIC ARTS INSTRUCTOR

Supervised by/Reports to: Director of Career Technical Center

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Goals:

1. To provide an educational atmosphere in which student will move toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth and maturation in accordance with District philosophy, goals, and objectives.

Qualifications:

1. Completed application through Teach in Alabama.

2. Valid Alabama teaching certificate or eligibility to obtain one in Technical Education – Graphic Arts.

3. Minimum of an associate's degree in Graphic Arts, Graphic Design, or a related field OR industry certification(s) in graphic design (e.g., Adobe Certified Professional in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, or Visual Design) OR equivalent military experience OR one of the master-level occupational proficiencies approved by the state.

4. Experience in industry-related software such as Adobe Creative Suite preferred.

5. Knowledge of design principles, digital media production, and industry best practices.

6. Commitment to ongoing professional development and completion of state-recognized professional learning (as required).

7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

1. Utilizes and follows the state course of study and the Limestone County School Continua of Skills.

2. Performs reliably and dependably with a good record of attendance, punctuality, flexibility and time management.

3. Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.

4. Develop schemes of work and lesson plans.

5. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

6. Prepare classroom for class activities.

7. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.

8. Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs.

9. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.

10. Use relevant technology to support instruction.

11. Observe and evaluate student's performance and development.

12. Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments.

13. Provide appropriate feedback on work.

14. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.

15. Maintains, updates and submits all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations.

16. Prepare required reports on students and activities.

17. Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.

18. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.

19. Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.

20. Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings.

21. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.

22. Keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.

23. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations.

24. Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.

25. Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands to finger, to handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, crouch and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull carry and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary: Salary based on Board approved salary schedule.
