What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator of Special Education Services position at Alabama State Department of Education?
The Pike County Board of Education seeks a dynamic and innovative educator to join its Leadership Team. The Coordinator of Special Education Services is expected to lead our centralized team of experts to consult with schools on their most at-risk students, contribute to the development of a strong Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MITSS) process for all students and provide professional learning support to educators.
The team consists of individuals with expertise in the areas of school psychology, social emotional needs, behavior analysis, approaches to instruction and family engagement. The team consults and supports schools in the design and implementation of support plans while building the capacity of classroom teachers and other school-based personnel to meet the needs of all students.
QULAIFICATIONS:
Comprehensive knowledge and application of special education and Section 504 policy, procedures, regulations and law.
Applicant must hold and Alabama Teaching Certificate with endorsement in Special Education and Administration and Supervision.
Five years of experience in curriculum development and leadership in special education.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply regulations.
Skilled in the use of technology to support job functions including proficient use of IEP management systems, Microsoft Work, Power Point, Excel Outlook, and Web Applications preferred.
Knowledge and experience with use of web-based resources for professional development and communication.
Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate effectifvely both orally and in writing and to effectively work with individuals and groups.
Demonstrated ability in effective presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability in decision making, problem analysis, conflict resolution program management and long-range planning.
