Salary and benefits are negotiated and shall be paid consistent with the school’s approved

compensation plan.

Position Overview

The Director of Residential Life at ASHS will lead the development and implementation of

a dynamic, inclusive, and health-focused residential program for high school students. As a

founding member of the residential life team, this individual will play a critical role in

shaping a safe, supportive, and mission-aligned living-learning environment that reflects

ASHS’s core values: Compassion, Innovation, Integrity, and Service.

This position requires a visionary leader who is passionate about adolescent development,

equity, and community-building—and who thrives in a collaborative, start-up environment.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Vision

  • Design and implement a comprehensive residential life program aligned with ASHS’s

mission and healthcare-focused curriculum.

  • Establish policies, routines, and expectations that promote student well-being,

independence, and accountability.• Serve as a member of the Student Experience leadership team and contribute to

school-wide planning and decision-making.

Student Support & Community Building

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and trauma-informed residential culture that supports

belonging and character development.

  • Collaborate with the House System to integrate residential life with student

leadership, service, and wellness initiatives.

  • Provide direct support to students, including conflict resolution, behavioral guidance,

and crisis response.

Staff Supervision & Development

  • Recruit, train, and supervise residential life staff, including dorm heads, residential

advisors, and student leaders.

  • Develop and lead ongoing professional development focused on adolescent care,

cultural responsiveness, and safety.

  • Create and manage duty schedules to ensure consistent adult presence and support.

Operations & Safety

  • Oversee dormitory assignments, move-in/move-out processes, and daily operations.
  • Partner with facilities, dining, and safety teams to maintain a secure and welcoming

residential environment.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, including emergency preparedness and

fire drills.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for families of residential students, maintaining

proactive and transparent communication.

  • Collaborate with admissions, student support services, and academic teams to ensure a

holistic student experience.

  • Represent ASHS at relevant conferences and professional networks to stay current with

best practices in residential life.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in education, counseling, student affairs,

or related field preferred.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in residential life, student development, or boarding

school leadership.

  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and adolescent wellness.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to live on campus and fully participate in residential life, including evening and

weekend responsibilities.Preferred Attributes

  • Experience launching or significantly expanding a residential program.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed practices and culturally responsive care.
  • Background in healthcare education or interest in health equity and youth

empowerment.

Evaluation

Job performance will be evaluated by the immediate supervisor based on the school’s

policy and procedures.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $65,000 - $96,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Housing: On-campus housing provided.
  • Meals: All meals provided while school is in session.
  • Professional Development: Opportunities for ongoing training and conference

participation.

  • Benefits: Health insurance, retirement contributions, and other benefits aligned with
