The Huntsville Regional Center provides a continuum of services to individuals from infancy through adulthood. Our Interpreter Coordinators provide interpreting services, sign language instruction, and community education workshops and training sessions. They interpret for Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing individuals and groups in legal, business, medical, personal, and/or service delivery settings within AIDB and the community. Interpreter Coordinators are responsible for securing interpreting agreements with various community agencies and making presentations to various agencies and groups about deaf awareness and interpreting services. You will also be responsible for periodic in-service meetings and trainings, maintaining an interpreting database, scheduling, billing, and payroll.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· High School diploma or GED required.
· Must possess and maintain Alabama Interpreter License upon employment.
· Proven experience utilizing full range of communication and language levels, including use of sign, spoken language, and any additional modes of communication.
· Possess a minimum entry sign language proficiency level of ADVANCED according to AIDB evaluation system (SCPI); and ADVANCED PLUS must be obtained within the first 36 months of employment.
· Must provide documentation of sign language proficiency evaluation (SLPI available through AIDB).
· Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Demonstrated advocacy experience.
· Must know and adhere to the Interpreter Code of Ethics.
· Coordination skills with scheduling using Google request link, Google Calendar, and emails/texts.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree.
· One (1) year or more of formal work experience interpreting for the Deaf/DeafBlind.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
· Must possess a sign language proficiency evaluation of ADVANCED PLUS (SLPI) within 36 months of employment.
· Will keep track of monthly data on interpreting services/requests
· Collaborate with other AIDB units, including regional centers in the state
· Provide and coordinate interpreting services.
· Collaborate with other AIDB units, including Regional Centers in the state.
· Must be willing to travel and work flexible hours outside standard work hours, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
· Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB
SALARY: $47,948 - $74,468 Scale PI Rank PI Renewable Permit
$53,040 - $84,864 Scale PI Rank L1 Licensed Alabama Interpreter
$63,648 - $95,472 Scale PI Rank M1 Master’s in Interpreting
