Join our dynamic team as a Guardrail Installer/General Laborer and play a vital role in constructing safe, durable guardrail systems that protect communities and enhance roadway safety. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work outdoors on diverse construction sites, utilizing a variety of heavy equipment and tools. Duties
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperature extremes, including both hot and cold environments.
- Perform duties in proximity to active roadways and high-speed traffic while maintaining strict adherence to safety procedures.
- Dig and move soil manually using hand tools.
- Remove dirt from guardrail and sign footings.
- Load and transport dirt and other materials using wheelbarrows, trailers, or similar equipment.
- Establish and maintain traffic control and flagging operations in accordance with company and regulatory safety standards.
- Remain attentive to approaching and passing vehicle traffic at all times, while assigned to a flagging station.
- Stand for extended periods and use hand signals and other traffic-control devices to safely direct motorists through work zones.
- Maintain continuous focus and situational awareness to ensure the safety of the public, coworkers, and worksite.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license required; experience operating heavy equipment or similar machinery is helpful.
- Prior construction site experience or familiarity with construction processes is preferred.
- Ability to safely operate heavy equipment such as construction forklifts and medium-size trucks.
- Knowledge of utility locating procedures and construction site safety practices.
- Experience with paving, grading, roadway construction, or related work is a plus.
- Strong physical stamina with the ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of construction safety standards and protocols.
