Child Development Teacher | Teacher Assistant
Locations: Lee County & Russell County, Alabama
Organization: Alabama Council on Human Relations (ACHR)

Our Child Development program includes Head Start, serving 250 children ages 3-5yo, and Early Head Start, serving 160 children from Expected Parents through age 3. Our teachers play a vital role in shaping young minds and preparing children for long-term academic success. JD1. Early Head Start Teacher - Vacant
Responsible for providing developmentally appropriate care and education to infants and toddlers age 0-3 years in a classroom setting, focusing on fostering their social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and language skills through engaging activities, routines, and interactions, while also actively communicating and collaborating with families to support their child's overall development.
- Requirements:
- Teacher I: CDA Early Child Development Infant/Toddler
- Teacher II: Associate’s degree in Early Child Development Infant/Toddler or comparable credential associated with Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work
- Teacher III: Bachelor or higher degree in Early Child Development Infant/Toddler or comparable credential associated with Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work
- Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:30 – 3:30
- Locations: Opelika & Hurtsboro Campuses
- Closing Date: ONGOING
JD2. Head Start Teacher Assistant I & Teacher II, III - Vacant
Responsible for creating a nurturing classroom environment where they implement developmentally appropriate curriculum to promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of young children ages 3-5 years, while actively engaging with families and fostering strong parent partnerships to support their child's learning journey within the Head Start program guidelines.
- Requirements:
- Teacher I Assistant: CDA Early Child Development Preschool
- Teacher II: Associate’s degree in Early Child Development Preschool, or comparable credential associated with Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work, or Human Development/Family Studies
- Teacher III: Bachelor’s or higher degree in Early Child Development Preschool, or comparable credential associated with Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or Human Development/Family Studies
- Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:30 – 3:30
- Locations: Auburn, Hurtsboro, and Opelika Campuses

JD3. Head Start Floater – Vacant
Assist teachers, families, and staff with planning, organizing and implementing classroom activities for children ages 3-5yo.
- Requirements:
- High school diploma
- Must enroll and successfully obtain a CDA within 18 months of hire
- Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:30 – 3:30
- Locations: Auburn, Hurtsboro, and Opelika Campus
