Summary:
Part-Time, 3-month appointment to support ongoing ecological research in the Paint Rock Forest Dynamics Plot. The selected candidate will lead the development of a long-term historical ecological drought index and work with a graduate student to integrate these results with forest growth and dendrochronology data. The position will also involve mentoring graduate students in analytical approaches, data synthesis, and interpretation related to drought impacts on temperate forest systems.
Examples of Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine a long-term ecological drought index using climate, hydrological, and ecological datasets.
- Assist in integrating dendrochronological data and forest growth measurements with drought index models.
- Collaborate with and mentor graduate students in data collection, analysis, and manuscript preparation.
- Contribute to project reports and potential peer-reviewed publications.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
- Ph.D. in Ecology, Zoology, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.
Supplemental Information
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated expertise in ecological drought and climate data analysis.
- Strong record of research productivity, including publications in peer-reviewed journals.
