American Leadership Academy - Lexington High School is currently accepting applications for a Special Education Teacher Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year. Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist in the implementation of IEPs for students with disabilities, following specific goals and objectives outlined by the SPED Teacher.
- Help the SPED Teacher with delivering instruction in various subjects, adapting materials and activities to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Help maintain a positive and orderly classroom environment, promoting respectful behavior and encouraging student engagement.
- Support students in participating in learning activities, providing one-on-one or small group assistance as needed.
- Observe and document student performance and behavior, providing feedback to the SPED Teacher regarding individual student progress.
- Work closely with the SPED Teacher, general education teachers, and other support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student learning.
- Encourage social interactions among students, helping them build friendships and navigate social situations within the classroom and school environment.
- Assist in preparing and organizing instructional materials, resources, and equipment for classroom activities.
- Maintain open lines of communication with parents or guardians regarding student progress and any concerns that may arise. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school Diploma or equivalent Pass applicable background check
