What are the responsibilities and job description for the Athletic Director position at ALA Blythewood?
Charter One works with schools across the country to provide all-inclusive education management services. We handle the day-to-day work so that client school boards can focus on governance and policy issues to be sure that the vision and mission of the school are being carried out properly.
American Leadership Academy-Blythewood is now accepting applications for an Athletic Director for the 2026-2027 school year. Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Works with District Athletic Director and Campus Director to oversee all Athletic programs offered at the campus and recommend processes, strategies, and methods regarding the development and maintenance of effective sports programs.
- Ensure the campus’s athletic program aligns with ALA Lexington policies, regulations, and guidelines.
- Recruit, select, and hire school staff, including athletic teachers, staff, and coaches.
- Work with teachers to improve their teaching practice through coaching, professional development, modeling, and collaborative planning.
- Evaluate teachers and coaches and monitor performance through formal and informal evaluations.
- Participate in PLC’s to review student data, growth and academic needs.
- Resolve concerns and respond to inquiries regarding athletic programs or that may arise between stakeholders including parents, athletes, and coaching staff.
- Develop athletic schedules for games, practices, camps, and other applicable activities.
- Order and purchase athletic equipment and supply for the campus.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least three years’ experience in a 7-12 environment
- Pass applicable background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- Five years’ experience in a 7-12 environment
- Previous experience in athletic administration
