Job description
Purpose: To provide a clean and sanitary environment for the shelter animals by following the prescribed cleaning procedures described in the Employee Handbook .
Essential Duties:
- Clean and sanitize dog and cat enclosures.
- Feed and water dogs and cats.
- Allow dog and cats adequate exercise time outside of their cages.
- Serve as a liaison during open shelter hours, assisting guests with questions they may have about the shelter animals.
- Identify animal enclosure maintenance needs and notify their supervisor.
- Report any animal or building concerns to their supervisor.
- Be willing to do additional related duties as requested by their supervisor.
Expectations:
- Treat all animals with kindness and respect.
- Adhere to your schedule. Tardiness and absenteeism will be addressed.
- Immediately report to the Lead Kennel Attendant and Operations Manager any personal injury including but not limited to scratches, bites, or strains occurring from your assigned tasks.
- Wear safe and appropriate clothing as described in the Employee Handbook.
- Provide excellent customer service at all times.
Qualifications:
- Be able to work with cleaning compounds, broom, mop, hot water hose, foaming device, etc.
- GED or equivalent education generally required.
- Possess the ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Possess knowledge of basic animal handling and restraint techniques.
- Physically able to perform essential duties and lift up to 50 lbs.
Authority: Kennel Attendants report to the Lead Kennel Attendant.
Work Hours: Part-time, Full-time. Both AM and PM shifts.
Compensation: Pay range begins at $12.50. Bi-weekly incentives. Performance evaluations are conducted at the end of the 90-day probation period. After probation period, evaluations are performed as guided by the Employee Handbook.
