Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Al-Mahmood Foundation is seeking a sharp, motivated, and experienced Data Analyst to bring robust analytical and problem-solving skills to our leading educational projects. Our foundation is deeply committed to leveraging data to drive continuous improvement and informed decision-making across academic, financial, instructional, operational, and talent areas. The Data Analyst plays a critical role in helping us achieve these goals.

For this position, being a "people person" is just as important as being a "numbers person." Building strong, collaborative partnerships across different teams is essential for success.

Key Details:

· Reporting: This position reports directly to the Chairperson.

· Schedule: A hybrid work model, requiring three days a week at our Burnsville office and two days working from home.

· Travel: Anticipated travel to other regions and sites is approximately 5% to 10% of the year.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data Analysis & Visualization

  • Gather data and insights from public social media platforms and online forums to identify trends and strategies for attracting and enrolling students in faith-based learning programs.
  • Conduct text mining and sentiment analysis on community event feedback, surveys, and social media posts to evaluate family decision-making patterns and preferences regarding faith-based versus conventional education.
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data models and interactive Microsoft Power BI dashboards to deliver comprehensive, accessible insights to current and prospective students, families, and the community—utilizing advanced features like Power Query (M) and DAX for robust data transformation and complex calculations.
  • Collaborate directly with school administrators and organizational leadership across all campuses to ensure Power BI tools, reporting metrics, and data processes align with the strategic needs of end-users.
  • Enforce data quality and governance standards by rigorously testing, validating, and performance-tuning Power BI reports and underlying data models to ensure absolute accuracy and optimal load times.
  • Design, implement, and maintain a secure, SQL-based relational database server to centralize institutional data, optimizing schema design, writing efficient stored procedures, and managing user access controls to ensure data integrity and compliance with privacy standards.
  • Analyze student assessment and academic performance data using statistical techniques to identify learning gaps, track growth trajectories, and deliver actionable insights that assist instructional leaders in refining curriculum and intervention strategies.

Team Alignment & Professional Development

· Foster team growth and data literacy by participating in peer knowledge-sharing initiatives, contributing to internal documentation, and conducting ad-hoc training sessions for colleagues.

· Commit to continuous professional development to stay current with the latest updates, features, and best practices in Microsoft Power BI and emerging data technologies.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of data analytics experience, with a preference for individuals who have worked within the private faith-based sector or comparable mission-driven environments.

COMPETENCY AND SKILLS:

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, with demonstrated expertise in report design, data modeling (star schema), and crafting complex calculations using DAX and Power Query (M).

· Strong mastery of SQL for executing complex queries, performing data extraction, and managing relational database concepts.

· Solid background in statistical analysis, paired with practical proficiency in Python.

· Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

· Exceptional quantitative and technical problem-solving skills.

· Proven capability to work with disparate datasets, ensuring rigorous, efficient data cleaning, validation, and manipulation.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a specific ability to translate complex data findings and technical specifications into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.

· A strong alignment with a collaborative, faith-based, mission-driven culture, alongside a deep commitment to student success.

· Demonstrated experience collaborating effectively within a team environment and working closely with school leadership.
